GIRLS, guys want you to know the following:

Sometimes we just want to talk with a friend who is a girl. Why is it that when we call, you start thinking we like you?

And when we pass you in the hall at school and don’t say “hi” (even though we’re friends), don’t jump to conclusions and start thinking, “oh, no! He doesn’t like me anymore?” Why can’t you think first? Perhaps the coach just chewed us out, or we bombed a pop quiz in history or we were up late the night before and didn’t get much sleep.

We’re not going to ask you out if we’re not 90 percent sure you’ll accept. So if we are tossing out signals (hanging around ALL the time, calling you excessively and joking with you a lot), please return a few signals. If you don’t, we’ll assume you won’t go out with us, and we won’t take the risk of asking.

Yeah, sometimes we misread your signals. Be patient with us. This communication thing can be thugh.

GUYS, this is what girls want you to know:

Pay attention to us when we’re trying to get your attention. When we notice you and think you’re cute, we’ll probably approach you. But when we do, don’t be so engrossed in talking about last night’s football game that you tune us out. LOOK at us. It’s really hard sometimes for us to get your attention!

Sometimes we think you want to ask us out, but we’re not sure. Could you be a little more obvious when giving signals? Here’s the deal: We become good friends with you. Then, without even planning on it, we start liking you – yes, as more than a friend. But we’re scared to do or say anything about it because we’re afraid it’ll wreck our friendship. It often seems like a no-win situation: We risk losing your friendship and aren’t sure we’re going to gain something better. Sometimes we think it would be best to stick with you as a buddy and never get to know you on a deeper level.

As much as we scream, “Equal rights!” deep down inside we really enjoy being around guys who take the lead, show initiative and display confidence. Know what that does for us? We feel better about ourselves when we’re around you.
